Your privacy
Effective October 3, 2026
This journal is yours. This page explains, in plain language, what it stores, who can see it, and the choices you have. It covers the Emotion Check-In app only. Your therapy records are covered by The Intentional Living Academy's Notice of Privacy Practices, which you received when you started care.
What the journal stores
- Your account: your email address, and the name you type in Settings.
- Your check-ins: everything you enter, including your mood, feelings, notes, the parts you pick, Self-energy, urges, choices and how things turned out.
- Your parts list and daily habits (water, meals, movement, exercise and sleep).
- Your therapist link: the name and email address of the therapist you invite, and whether the link is active.
The journal does not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools. It does not ask for your location, contacts or photos.
Who can see it
- You can see everything you enter.
- Your therapist can see your check-ins and daily habits only after you invite them, they accept, and you confirm. They see only what you share: check-ins you mark private are never shown to them, and nothing you save while sharing is turned off is shown to them either. Your parts list itself is not shared. They see a part only when you pick it in a shared check-in.
- If you unlink, your therapist immediately loses access to everything in your journal.
- A small number of system administrators at the Academy can access the database to keep it running. They do not read journal entries except to fix a problem you ask about, or when the law requires it.
Your therapist may choose to note something you shared in your clinical record, just as they would with something you said in session. Your clinical record is protected under the Academy's Notice of Privacy Practices.
We never sell your information or use it for marketing.
Companies that help run the journal
- Supabase stores your journal and handles sign-in.
- Resend sends sign-in emails and therapist invitations. Sign-in emails contain only a link and a code. Invitations do not include your name or anything from your journal.
- Netlify delivers the app's pages to your device. It does not receive your journal entries.
- Google Fonts supplies the lettering. Like any website, these services can see basic technical details such as your device's internet address.
How it is protected
- Information travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and is encrypted where it is stored.
- The database itself enforces who can see what, so the rules above apply even if someone tampers with the app.
- Sign-in uses one-time codes sent to your email, so there is no password to steal.
- The therapist view hides your entries after 10 minutes without activity.
Anyone who can open your email or use your unlocked phone could get into your journal. Keep a passcode on your phone, and sign out (in Settings) on shared devices.
Your choices
- Tick Keep this check-in private on any check-in.
- Turn sharing off or on in Settings at any time.
- Unlink your therapist in Settings at any time.
- Edit notes on, or delete, any check-in, and remove any part.
- To get a copy of your journal, or to delete your whole account and everything in it, ask your therapist or contact the Academy office.
How long it is kept
Your entries stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Deleted entries are removed right away. Backup copies kept for disaster recovery are erased on a short rolling schedule.
This journal is not monitored
Nobody watches the journal between sessions, and writing something here does not alert anyone. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (US), or go to the nearest emergency room.
Changes and questions
If this notice changes, we will update the date at the top and tell you about any important changes. If you have questions, ask your therapist or contact The Intentional Living Academy at lvtherapists.com.
